Push On
2016
Modified pocket watch, resin model
4.8 x 4.8 x 5.3 cm
Push On is a watch sculpture that criticises the vain and cyclical nature of life. A miniature resin figure of a man that appears to be pushing a rock has been attached to the second hand of an operating pocket watch.
This relentless circling of the man echoes the mythical figure of Sisyphus, who was consigned to an eternity of useless efforts and unending frustration. This tiny time-based sculpture creates a poetic scene, self-reflexive for one’s contemplation on the tedium of contemporary life.
