Still Moving

2016
Electronics, motor, modified
plastic wall clock
25 x 25 x 12 cm

Still Moving is a wall clock designed to challenge the concept of time perception. A synchronous quartz movement clock has been pared down to one essential component – a second hand and mounted onto a motor which rotates in an anti-clockwise direction.

This strategic alteration enacts an uncanny destabilising image of a clock, a temporal perceptual illusion of stagnant time. The timepiece serves as a reminder to introspection and the appreciation of time, particularly in our fast-moving society.

Presented at SOTA Art Gallery as part of DD/MM/YYYY (2016), with curatorial mentorship by Michelle Ho.
