Trapped

2021-22
1 minute 58 seconds stereophonic sound, wooden box, SD card, portable speaker
40 x 40 x 40 cm

Trapped a bare wooden stick and box on the floor that emits the irregular sound and subtle vibrations of something pounding on the surface from within. On its face, an entirely ordinary crate, the strategic concealment of a speaker leads to a puzzling disparity between visual and acoustic perception.

Volume and rhythms faltering between struggle and defeat, the set-up suggests an anonymous subject stuck inside a box, through which viewers are put on the spot of potential intervention.
