Walking Still is an intricate kinetic mechanism that perpetually moves a pair of silk-fused footwear to walk. Within the wooden box are two motors that lift the shoes alternately - producing a hefty sound with each ‘footstep’.
The audible quality of the work contradicts the lightweight nature of the shoes and its underwhelming act of walking in place - alluding to progress while clearly ineffectual. This repetitive gait that yields no purposeful product ridicules the pointlessness of modern life.
